What are the different types of reports that LightCounting sells? What is the difference between a "Forecast" and a "State of the Industry" report?
LightCounting offers six reports a year.
The Transceiver Sales Report provide an overview of units sold, average price per unit, and total sales of over 80 product categories in the SONET/SDH, Ethernet and Fiber Channel, WDM, FTTx, and Parallel Modules market segments. This report is published twice a year.
The Transceiver Forecast Report uses information collected from LightCounting’s semi-annual survey to predict four years of units sold, average price per unit, and total sales in the transceiver industry. Over 80 product categories in SONET/SDH, Ethernet and Fiber Channel, WDM, and FTTx are provided. This report is published twice a year.
The Transceiver State of the Industry Report analyses the state of optical transceiver industry using publicly available information and confidential information reported to LightCounting by 30 leading transceiver vendors. The report covers the following topics: fragmentation of the market, diversification of suppliers, profitability, growth strategies, and industry landscape. This report is published annually.
The Technology Review Report, LightCounting’s first Technology Review report, addresses the high-speed interface market covering datacom and telecom. From the LAN to the WAN, the report will address copper and fibre interfaces ranging in speed from 4Gbps to 100Gbps; from short range parallel optics – POP4 and SNAP12 - to 10Gbps and emerging 100G Ethernet standards, as well as the 4, 8 and 10G Fibre Channel standards. This report is published annually.

How often does LightCounting update its data and reports?
The Transceiver Sales Reports are released twice a year in December and June.
The Transceiver Forecast Reports are released twice a year in January and July.
The State of the Industry Report is released annually in March.
The Technology Review Report is released annually in October.
Is the data available in quarterly or biannual form?
Data presented in the reports are listed in quarterly form.
Why are the numbers in the latest report different from previous reports?
Changes in the survey results from one report to another are due to one of the following:
1) Survey participants sometimes make corrections to data reported in the past and
2) LightCounting makes changes to estimated sales of vendors that did not contribute data to the survey in the past.
The main reason we make changes is to provide our clients with the most accurate information possible even if we have to update past data. In most cases, the changes are minor.
Can I purchase just a portion of a report?
LightCounting only sells data as complete reports.
Will LightCounting conduct a special consulting project for me?
In order to provide truly objective market information, LightCounting does not participate in any vendor specific projects and/or consultations.
