EUGENE, Oregon – (March 23, 2009)
LightCounting LLC, the premier market research firm for optical transceivers, today announced the addition of Brad Smith as Senior Vice President. He will be responsible for the development of LightCounting's new market coverage in transceiver-related semiconductor and optical markets and for managing LightCounting's consulting operations.
"I am honored that Brad is joining our team as Senior Vice President," said Vladimir Kozlov, Founder, Chief Strategist, LightCounting. "He is an industry veteran whose extensive experience will expand LightCounting's analytical expertise to include emerging growth markets. His advice and insight will be of great service to our clients as they position themselves for the next growth cycle."
Brad has 15-years industry experience at companies including Nexgen (acquired by AMD) and NOS, an optical subsystems manufacturer, and 15-years experience at market research companies RHK, Gartner, and Dataquest. In his role as executive, he raised over $100M in venture capital, and was involved in a number of M&As. He brings to LightCounting a unique perspective of industry and market research, as well as of optical and semiconductors markets.
"I look forward to helping LightCounting expand its research and custom consulting coverage both in depth and breadth of scope to include more general high-speed systems interconnects (HSSI)," said Brad Smith, Senior Vice President, LightCounting. "As data speeds continue to increase, the 'Optical/Electronic border tension,' as we phrase it, is escalating, and eventually all high-speed interconnects will become optical-based. We will focus our efforts on this tension with new reports and custom consulting services that dig deeper into each area and expand our breadth of coverage, including active optical and copper cables, parallel optics, transceiver power, silicon photonics, 10, 40, 100Gbps, InfiniBand, and advanced optical modulation."
