Dale Murray, Principal AnalystScott Schube

Dale has over 29 years of industry experience in fiber optics and optoelectronics with an extensive background in new product development and business development.

At LightCounting, Dale covers datacom markets and components from standardized optical links to next generation high-speed optical interconnects.

Optoelectronic Industry Experience

Dale helped establish the fiber optic initiative at Tyco Electronics [then AMP Incorporated] and led all aspects of new product development for active, passive and connector products as well as technology development. He built a multifaceted advanced development team and as Director of Development Engineering he led the successful launch of multiple new products including the first optical backplane interconnect, the MPX. He established development programs for fiber couplers, attenuators, planar waveguide splitters and muxes, optical switches, GbE transceivers, and parallel optic data link modules. Under DARPA programs he supported optical interconnect and optical backplane demonstrations. Most recently Dale led a manufacturing engineering and test team for Active Optical Cables.

At a Bell Labs startup for highly integrated massively parallel optical interconnects, Dale led the transition from proof of principle devices to manufacturing.

At W.L. Gore he led business development for optical data links for datacom and telecom applications. He also supported custom fiber optic assemblies for DoD programs.

Dale has been responsible for the product roadmaps, product specifications and technology partnerships at several organizations in his career.

Market Research Experience

While at ElectroniCast, Dale was sole author of two major market studies: VCSEL Transceivers and 10 Gbps Transceivers. He also acted as a technical consultant for clients including business plan and technology roadmap analysis.

Education

Dale received a BSME from the University of Delaware and an MBA from Shippensburg University.
